BII team and Collaborators receive "MERL Best Paper Award" at the 4th International Symposium on Visual Computing (ISVC'08) (1 to 3 December 2008, Las Vegas, USA)

The 4th International Symposium on Visual Computing (ISVC'08) was held in Las Vegas, USA from 1 to 3 December 2008.  The purpose of the symposium was to provide a common forum for researchers, scientists, engineers and practitioners throughout the world to present their latest research findings, ideas, developments and applications in the broader area of visual computing. Two "best paper awards", each worth US$500, were sponsored by Siemens and Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (MERL) and in addition, Informatics Circle of Research Excellence sponsored a US$500 award for the best paper in the special track on Analysis and Visualization of Biomedical Visual Data.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Yu Wei Miao and Dr. Lee Hwee Kuan from the Bioinformatics Institute (BII)  and their collaborators from the Institute of Medical Biology (IMB) have received the "MERL Best Paper Award" for their paper entitled "Level Set Segmentation of Cellular Images based on Topological Dependence" during the symposium.
