Principal Investigator
Research Group: Machine Learning for Bioimage Analysis

Cheng Li started the Machine Learning for Bioimage Analysis Group upon joining BII in July 2010. He worked at Statistical Machine Learning group of NICTA, Australia, TTI-Chicago, USA and University of Alberta, Canada, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science. His research expertise is mainly on machine learning and computer vision. He is a senior member if IEEE. Since December 2018, he has taken up an associate professorship with his alma mater while ensuring smooth transition as Adjunct Professor with BII.

Cheng Li leads the Machine Learning for Bioiage Analysis Group that aims to develop machine learning approaches for the automated analysis of biological and medical images. Topics of interest include, but not limited to, cellular and tissue image analysis such as segmentation, tracking, and phenotype recognition.
