Research Group: Analytics of Biological Sequence Data

Wing-Cheong Wong graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He then obtained his M.Sc. in Bioinformatics from the Faculty of Medicine at National University of Singapore (NUS) under a scholarship program awarded by the Bioinformatics Institute (BII) of Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). In2011, he completed his Ph.D (summa cum laude) in Computer Science with the Universität Leipzig under the supervision of the current BII ED Dr. Frank Eisenhaber. In 2014, he becomes a Principal Investigator (PI) in BII and leads the Analytics of Biological Sequence Data (ABSD) Group. In 2017, he received a joint PI appointment with Singhealth DukeNUS PRISM to lead the clinical and translational informatics effort. His area of research spans from computational biology that focuses on the methodology development to improve the biological interpretation of largescale sequencebased data and informatics system development to speed up clinical research.

Wing Cheong leads the Analytics of Biological Sequence Data (ABSD) group, focusing on the development of computational and statistical methodology that aims to improve the biological interpretation of sequencebased ( collaborations with clinicians and biologists from the immunology to the cancer domain.
