The group is focused on elucidating the functional implications of RNA structure, RNA-RNA, and RNA-protein interactions in shaping biological processes. We apply a broad array of different methods, ranging from sequence analysis, structure modeling, and numerical simulations to identify and analyze functional and regulatory elements in RNA. We previously identified key interactions in Dengue and Zika viruses and demonstrated that these interactions are essential for viral function at different stages of the viral life cycle.
